Bethpage NY Homes for Sale

Bethpage is a hamlet in the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County, on Long Island, New York. It is most notable for being one of the access points to the world-class Bethpage State Park. Aside from its residential areas that feature plenty of beautiful single-family homes and condos, the sprawling Bethpage Business Park is also an integral component of the area.

Local Area Information

Bethpage is an unincorporated neighborhood and census-designated place (CDP) in Nassau County’s Town of Oyster Bay on Long Island, New York. It is tucked between Plainview to the north, Hicksville and Levittown to the west, Old Bethpage and the village of Farmingdale to the east and Plainedge to the south. It is served by the Bethpage Post Office and shares the 11714 ZIP code with some sections of Levittown and Plainedge.

Bethpage was named after a Biblical town in ancient Israel by Thomas Powell Sr., one of the Quakers that first settled in the area. When the Bethpage State Park opened in 1932, the local post office that was named Centralpark (formerly Jerusalem Station then Central Park) also adopted the name Bethpage in 1936. The adjacent community that was already using the name Bethpage refused proposals of a merger and renamed itself Old Bethpage instead.

Lining Bethpage’s tree-shaded streets are residential areas consisting of largely single-family homes along with a number of multifamily dwellings, among which are duplexes, and co-ops, like the ones at Crescent Woods. Many houses are as large as 4-bedroom homes or larger, especially the luxury properties on more spacious lots, and have master bedrooms on first floor, private pools and other features and amenities. The property inventory also includes rental properties, potential mother-daughter and new constructions.

A substantial land area of the community is occupied by the Bethpage Business Park, which houses many global companies, while nearby is Grumman Studios, regarded as the largest film studio on the east coast. Bethpage was once the site of the headquarters of Northrop Grumman, then named Grumman Corporation, and takes pride for being the birthplace of the Apollo lunar modules that landed men on the moon in the 1960s and ’70s.

The hamlet is approximately 30 miles east of Manhattan, New York City, and served by the Bethpage Station via the Long Island Rail Road’s Ronkonkoma Branch. Driving to or from the city takes about an hour and a half to an hour and 57 minutes via the Long Island Expressway.
