East Atlantic Beach NY Homes for Sale

East Atlantic Beach is a seashore community in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County, on the South Shore of Long Island, New York. Along with four other beach communities, it occupies the barrier island of Long Beach, hugged by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean to the south and Reynolds Channel to the north, promoting a boating and beach lifestyle.

Local Area Information

East Atlantic Beach is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Hempstead, a third of the townships in Nassau County, Long Island, New York. It is located on Long Beach Island, a barrier island protecting Long Island’s South Shore, and aptly named for its location east of Atlantic Beach Village, the westernmost community on the barrier island, which is also shared with Long Beach City, Lido Beach, and Point Lookout.

At 0.315 square miles, not including water, East Atlantic Beach is the sixth smallest CDP in the Town of Hempstead, and the 10th smallest not only in Nassau County but also among the 194 CDPs on all of Long Island. In the 2020 U.S. Census, it had a population of 2,101, making it the ninth least populated CDP in Nassau County, though there are many CDPs in Suffolk County that had a larger land area and fewer population.

Like the rest of the communities on Long Beach Island, East Atlantic Beach is tucked between Reynolds Channel to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the south, allowing for plenty of waterfront homes with boat docks and great water views, as well as private beach membership clubs. Lawrence Beach Club, located in the neighborhood, has the distinction of being the oldest private beach club in the United States.

The East Atlantic Beach, NY 11509 ZIP code is used in the western portion, from the Village to generally the west side of Clayton Avenue, while those on the east use the 11561 ZIP code. Besides the waterfront homes, the robust real estate market also offers a great array of other property types, such as rentals, single-family homes for sale, luxury properties, and other housing that would cater to most needs.

East Atlantic Beach is approximately 22 miles southeast of Manhattan in New York City, and served by the Inwood Station via the Long Island Rail Road’s Far Rockaway Branch, and the Long Beach Station via the Long Beach Branch. A car trip to or from the city takes about an hour and 14 minutes to an hour and 32 minutes via the Nassau Expressway and Rockaway Boulevard.
