The area in the 1800s was farmland largely owned by the Willis family, whom it is named after. The word “East” was added since a hamlet also named Williston already existed in Upstate New York. It was incorporated in 1926, the same year its western counterpart also became a village.

Located about 20 miles east of Manhattan, New York City, East Williston today offers a variety of housing options, including single-family homes, multifamily residences and the 15 or so condos at Wheatley House.
