The village of Mineola lies immediately to the east, while Hempstead Town’s village of Garden City, from which the area’s name comes, lies to the south. Before the name change, it was known as Clowesville and was the seat of then Queens County.

Located about 19 miles east of Manhattan, New York City, Garden City Park today is known for its variety of housing options. At least three of North Hempstead Town’s parks occupy the Garden City Park area. Fireman Richard W. Provost Memorial Park is a passive park with a tree-shaded walking path and benches. Broadway Town Park has amenities for badminton, basketball, tennis, volleyball, shuffleboard and handball. It also has a playground and community room with billiard and ping-pong tables. The Schools

The schools then feed into the Sewanhaka Central High School District.
