The village of Mineola lies immediately to the east, while Hempstead Town’s village of Garden City, from which the area’s name comes, lies to the south. Before the name change, it was known as Clowesville and was the seat of then Queens County.

Located about 19 miles east of Manhattan, New York City, Garden City Park today is known for its variety of housing options. Beaches & Parks

At least three of North Hempstead Town’s parks occupy the Garden City Park area. Fireman Richard W. Provost Memorial Park is a passive park with a tree-shaded walking path and benches. Broadway Town Park has amenities for badminton, basketball, tennis, volleyball, shuffleboard and handball. It also has a playground and community room with billiard and ping-pong tables. Herricks Ball Field boasts a new playground and landscaping in addition to its Little League and softball fields.

The Schools

Over a third of the neighborhood is part of the New Hyde Park-Garden City Park Union Free School District. One of the district’s four public elementary schools, Garden City Park School, is located in the area. New Hyde Park Road School is in the village of New Hyde Park, and the rest, Manor Oaks-William R. Bowie and Hillside Grade Schools, are in North New Hyde Park.

The schools then feed into the Sewanhaka Central High School District.

The regions generally northeast of Marcus Avenue and northwest of Jericho Turnpike are served by the Herricks Union Free School District.

The rest are served by the Mineola Union Free School District, whose Mineola High School is also located in Garden City Park.
