Jamesport NY Real Estate & Homes for Sale

Jamesport NY Homes for Sale

For decades, this North Fork area has been recognized as a favorite summer destination on the renowned East End and more recently, a magnificent alternative to the pricier, more congested Hamptons on the South Fork. Farm lands and stands, antique homes, luxuriant vineyards and lovely bay beaches dot the landscape with its quiet tree-lined roads. These rich features along with its accessibility to New York City and endearing rural appeal draw home buyers and visitors alike to Jamesport.

Local Area Information

Jamesport is an unincorporated neighborhood and census-designated place (CDP) in the southeast corner of the Town of Riverhead, Suffolk County, on Long Island, New York. It is adjoined by Aquebogue on the west and Northville on the north, and immediately to the east is Laurel Hollow, one of the neighborhoods in the Town of Southold. The Jamesport CDP includes the area south of Peconic Bay Boulevard referred to as South Jamesport.

Residential districts consist of several communities that maintain their own private beach on the Great Peconic Bay, which borders the southern area. Those without a private beach, though, are never more than 10 minutes from the water. The single-family homes range from 1- to 4-bedroom homes or larger and feature pools, first-floor bedrooms and different amenities.

Many 3- and 4-bedroom cottages and other waterfront homes, including several of the rentals at Fairhaven, line Jamesport’s shore and command outstanding water views of the bay. The robust housing stock also includes a number of luxury homes, undeveloped vacant lots, new constructions and horse properties. Much of the community uses the 11947 ZIP code, while other portions use either 11948 or 11970.

Jamesport’s quaint downtown along Route 25, also called Main Road, is popular for its unique stores, restaurants, fresh produce stands and inns and is most notably known for its wineries offering exquisite wines and fine dining. These include Jamesport Vineyards and Clovis Point Wines, just a couple among over three dozen wineries in the distinguished North Fork of Long Island American Viticultural Area (AVA), one of the country’s designated grape-growing regions.

The population in the community more or less doubles in the summer, during which the Great Peconic Bay beckons to beach goers, and autumn, when marvelous farm views call out to pumpkin pickers. Exciting vineyard and community events also entice wine tasters, tourists and day-trippers to take a sip of all that Jamesport has to offer.
