Kings Park is a diverse community in Suffolk County’s Town of Smithtown on Long Island, New York, with a rich history and heritage. It is considered by many as a good place to raise children, and many families choose the relatively tranquil area to put down their roots.

Local Area Information

Kings Park is a residential neighborhood and census-designated place (CDP) situated in the Town of Smithtown, one of Suffolk County’s ten townships, on the North Shore of Long Island, New York. Its nearest neighbors include the hamlets of Smithtown, Commack, and Fort Salonga as well as the village of Nissequogue just across the Nissequogue River, which runs along Kings Park’s northeast boundary. The riverside offers plenty of splendid water views and waterfront homes, including those in the San Remo community.

The hamlet comprises mostly single-family homes and some condos, co-ops, and other multifamily dwellings, all of which have a varied range of features. There are homes with pools on expansive lots, a number of rentals, potential mother-daughter, new constructions, and gated communities, such as Lakebridge Club, Country Pointe at Kings Park, and Kings Park Manor, which is also a 55+ community. All properties use the Kings Park, NY 11754 ZIP code.

The Kings Park School District includes a section in the adjacent hamlet of Fort Salonga that is considered part of Kings Park in general. Its residents make up nearly a fifth of Kings Park’s population, and it is where most of the town’s pricier properties and luxury homes are located.

Many are drawn to the more laid-back vibe and small-town feel of Kings Park while being only minutes away from the shops along Jericho Turnpike. Within the town are two strip malls, and recent revitalization efforts have also been focused on Kings Park’s own commercial district on Main Street, where many popular restaurants are located, to attract more people into the area.

The neighborhood is served by the Kings Park Station via the Port Jefferson Branch of the Long Island Rail Road, and is approximately 45 miles east of Manhattan. Driving to or from the city takes about an hour and 10 minutes to an hour and 22 minutes with the Sunken Meadow State Parkway providing convenient access to the Long Island Expressway and Northern State Parkway.
