Lloyd Harbor is a bucolic village on the famed North Shore of Long Island, New York, in the Town of Huntington, Suffolk County. It is Located on a peninsula that extends north to the Long Island Sound with almost 20 miles of coastline along Lloyd Harbor, Huntington Harbor, Huntington Bay, Cold Spring Harbor, and the Sound. At 9.36 square miles, excluding water, it is the largest among all the villages in both Nassau and Suffolk Counties on Long Island.

The portion near downtown Huntington is called West Neck and is linked to Lloyd Neck by a long causeway. In 1926, nearly three decades after the beginning of Long Island’s Gold Coast era, Lloyd Neck and West Neck combined and became known as the Incorporated Village of Lloyd Harbor.

Houses for sale, many of which are single-family homes that have private beaches and amazing water views of the Sound, are typically valued at a higher market rate in this area. Beaches & Parks

Many of the village parks are located on historically significant sites that were once great estates, including the Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve. Extending over 1,500 acres on a former English-style estate, the area’s largest park is home to the Lloyd Harbor Equestrian Center and over 200 species of birds. The preserve offers biking, hiking, bird watching, snowshoeing/cross-country skiing, nature study and photography, bridle paths, and scenic views, as well as fishing and scuba diving by permit.

The nearby Target Rock National Wildlife Refuge, another former estate of 80 acres, has about a half-mile of rocky beach, a brackish pond, and a number of vernal ponds, and is an extremely popular shore fishing site. There is a mile-long loop trail through the woods and a three-quarter mile walking road to the beach.

The Quentin Sammis/West Neck Beach is a quiet and serene narrow strip of beach that stretches 1,140 feet, and is popular among kayakers and windsurfers. It is known for its car-top boat launch, and other amenities include small-boat racks, a first-aid station and restroom. It offers lifeguard protection during the day in the summer, and is home to the Lloyd Neck Bath Club, a local private beach club.
