Lloyd Neck is a peninsula in the scenic Village of Lloyd Harbor in Suffolk County’s Town of Huntington on the prestigious North Shore of Long Island, New York. It is linked to the village portion nearer downtown Huntington called West Neck by a causeway, along which travelers are treated to marvelous bay views and captivating scenery of the land, especially at sunset.

Local Area Information

Lloyd Neck is part of Lloyd Harbor, a bucolic village in the Town of Huntington, Suffolk County, on the North Shore of Long Island, New York. It is located on a peninsula that extends north to the Long Island Sound with miles of coastline along Lloyd Harbor, Huntington Bay, Oyster Bay, and the Sound. This coastal community encompasses large areas of forested hills, wildlife sanctuaries, and parkland, the quintessential natural beauty that initially attracted the renowned Long Island Gold Coast’s wealth.

The area’s single-family homes, many of which are waterfront properties belonging to private road associations and have beach and docking rights as well as spectacular views of the Sound, are typically valued at a higher market rate. They also include stunning luxury homes, historic houses, prime estates, and expansive ranches commonly built on two-acre or even larger lots.

Much of the area uses the Lloyd Harbor, NY 11743 ZIP code, while a small southern part uses the 11724 ZIP code. Many families are drawn to the area not only for its reputation as an oasis for the rich and famous but for its excellent schools as well. There are no commercial districts to disrupt the peace, but Huntington’s vibrant historic downtown area is just a short drive. This completely residential area has also restricted streetlights in some parts to preserve its privacy and rustic atmosphere.

Lloyd Neck is roughly 38 miles northeast of Manhattan in New York City and served by the Huntington Station via the Port Jefferson Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. Travel time to or from the city by car is about an hour and 39 minutes to two hours and eight minutes via the Long Island Expressway.

Lloyd Neck remains one of America’s most exclusive communities and yet embraces new residents with open arms so familiar to small town USA. Splendid village services, glorious waterfront views, and statistically miniscule crime rates make Lloyd Neck one of the region’s most desired locales.

The nearby Target Rock National Wildlife Refuge, another former estate of 80 acres, has about a half-mile of rocky beach, a brackish pond, and a number of vernal ponds, and is an extremely popular shore fishing site.
