Local Area Information

North Massapequa is an unincorporated neighborhood and census-designated place (CDP) in Nassau County’s Town of Oyster Bay on Long Island, New York. It is a landlocked area surrounded by South Farmingdale to the northeast, Plainedge to the north and the Town of Hempstead’s Levittown and North Wantagh to the northwest and southwest, respectively. The term Massapequas, which comes from a Native American word that means Great Waterland, generally refers to the Greater Massapequa area that encompasses the hamlets of Massapequa, North Massapequa and East Massapequa as well as the village tucked between them, Massapequa Park. They get their name from the large body of water that surrounds their south shore and forms a part of the Great South Bay.

Mostly single-family homes constitute the residential areas in the North Massapequa, NY 11758 ZIP code, which is also peppered with a lot of two- and three-family houses. More shopping, dining and entertainment options are found elsewhere in the hamlet, such as along Hicksville Road and Jerusalem Avenue.
