Northport NY Homes for Sale

Northport is a small vibrant coastal village in Suffolk County on the North Shore of Long Island, New York. It is the third smallest village in the Town of Huntington, yet it has it all, whether you’re searching for historical places, antiques, a hard-to-find novel, a museum, that perfect ensemble, or an exceptional restaurant. There are also countless concerts and parades, an annual marathon, holiday parties, and a casual mode of shopping that hands down beats the malls.

Local Area Information

Northport is a bayfront village in the Town of Huntington, Suffolk County, on the North Shore of Long Island, New York. It is encompassed by Fort Salonga and East Northport except the western boundary, which is overlapped by Northport Harbor and Northport Bay and is lined with many waterfront properties with boat docks and outstanding water views. With its charming Main Street, complete with old trolley rails, it’s easy to see why it is a great place to visit or live.

Northport’s historic and popular Main Street provides luxury shopping and breathtaking views of the scenic harbor. There are many Victorian and 18th-century single-family homes, stores and storefronts, all carefully maintained by residents and today’s shopkeepers who, continuing centuries-old custom, labor diligently to create and develop trade in what was once called the Great Cow Harbor.

Besides the waterfront homes, the residential districts are made up of beautiful luxury homes, a number of which have a pool or are built on lots expansive enough for horse properties. There are rentals, new constructions, multifamily houses, potential mother-daughter, accessory apartments, and gated communities, such as the Harbour Point at Northport. All village properties use the Northport, NY 11768 ZIP code.

The village holds many annual events, such as the Cow Harbor Day, which includes the popular 10k Great Cow Harbor Run, as well as Memorial Day Parade, Summerfest Concerts, and Nautical Mile Run. Various holidays are also well celebrated, including Easter, Halloween, and Christmas, during which many activities are held, such as Northport’s long-standing wacky tradition of Leg Lamp Lighting from “A Christmas Story.” There are also a number of music, art, and dance festivals, and various charitable events, causes, and drives.

Northport is approximately 39 miles northeast of Manhattan, New York City, and served by the Long Island Rail Road via the Port Jefferson Branch. Driving to or from the city takes around an hour and 16 minutes to an hour and 31 minutes via the Long Island Expressway or Northern State Parkway.
