Sag Harbor, NY Homes for Sale

Sag Harbor Village is shared by the townships of Southampton and East Hampton in Suffolk County on the South Fork of Long Island’s East End. This Hamptons community is known for its rich offering of historic and cultural attractions, gorgeous parks and bay beaches as well as waterfront homes and restaurants with amazing vistas of Sag Harbor Cove and Sag Harbor Bay.

Local Area Information

The village of Sag Harbor straddles Suffolk County’s Towns of Southampton and East Hampton on the South Fork of Long Island’s fabled East End in New York State. It adjoins Bridgehampton and Wainscott on the south, Noyack on the west and Northwest Harbor on the east and connects to North Haven Village to the north by a bridge with excellent views of Sag Harbor Cove on the west and Sag Harbor Bay on the east. It shares the 11963 ZIP code with some or all portions of these communities except Northwest Harbor.

With an area of 1.8 square miles in the 2020 US Census, Sag Harbor was the second smallest village in Southampton Town, next to West Hampton Dunes Village. In the East Hampton Town side, it is the only other village apart from the much larger East Hampton Village, and along with several other East End communities, both are part of the upscale summer holiday destination called the Hamptons.

Sag Harbor has so much more than just a fine sand beach, waterfront restaurants, sailing, parties, nightlife, fancy retail stores and other touristy offerings. It imparts an authentic village character and feel, with an entire business district designated as a national historic district consisting of about 870 sites that visitors can go see. It is also a cultural haven for artists and vintage lovers with its galleries, art studios, antiques shops, museums and other enriching venues.

Sag Harbor’s relaxed, laid-back vibe has attracted a number of writers, such as Spalding Gray and John Steinbeck, looking for a peaceful getaway. Celebrities are also drawn to the village for its fabulous range of real estate options, from single-family homes to multifamily properties, from the most affordable dwellings to million-dollar-plus 4-bedroom homes and grander luxury residences on spacious lots.

Particularly most notable is Sag Harbor’s extensive market of waterfront homes with private docks and fantastic water views. There are also many houses with pools, first-floor bedrooms and other features as well as a number of rentals and new constructions.
