It is bordered on the north by Carle Place and the village of Westbury, which are both in the Town of North Hempstead.

Between the 2010 and 2020 US Censuses, the community’s territory expanded with the addition of the former East Garden City CDP, which is in multiple ZIP codes and now constitutes its northern segment.

Beaches & Parks

The Mitchel Athletic Complex is a 49-acre Nassau County recreational complex with facilities such as a nine-lane track and field stadium with an oval and playing fields for softball, baseball, football, lacrosse and soccer. It also hosts different local athletic events for high school and collegiate levels, along with local sports leagues.

Three of Hempstead Town’s recreational parks are located in the community: Bernard Brown, Cedar Street and Uniondale Avenue Parks. Amenities include a handball/paddleball court and spray pool at Bernard Brown, football field at Cedar and tennis court at Uniondale Avenue Park. There are baseball/softball fields at both Bernard and Cedar, basketball courts at Bernard and Uniondale Avenue as well as volleyball courts and picnic tables at Cedar and Uniondale Avenue Parks. The Uniondale Union Free School District, which has nine public schools, serves the hamlet. Six of the district schools are located in the neighborhood, Lawrence Road Middle School is in Hempstead Village, while Grand Avenue Elementary and Uniondale Pre-K Schools are in Baldwin.

Other learning institutions in Uniondale include Hofstra University’s north campus and part of its south campus, Kellenberg Memorial High School and St. Martin de Porres Marianist School.
