It shares the 11978 ZIP code with the village of West Hampton Dunes and some areas of Westhampton.

Incorporated in 1928, the village includes a portion of the Westhampton Island to the south on the Atlantic Ocean, occupied by a wealth of breathtaking world-class beaches and private beach clubs offering a varied assortment of aquatic sports and activities. These prime destinations are accessible by boat and either of the two drawbridges on Jessup and Beach Lanes. Beaches & Parks

Cupsogue Beach County Park boasts 296 acres of lifeguarded white sand beaches for swimming, sunbathing, scuba diving, picnicking, seasonal special events, and some of the island’s finest saltwater bass fishing. Camping and recreational vehicles are allowed with permits along the outer beach access road, as is diving at the Moriches Bay side during slack tide. The park pavilion houses the changing rooms, showers, restrooms, concessions, and first aid station, which is EMT-staffed in the summer.

Lashley Beach is a relatively secluded, lifeguard-protected beach that contains showers, restrooms, and parking spaces. Also called Jetty 4, this beach features a small jetty and is a favorite among the village residents. It is located on the Westhampton barrier island on Dune Road, just past the facilities of the Dune Deck Beach Club.

On the southern end of Beach Lane, about two miles east of Lashley Beach, is the site of Rogers Beach, the most popular beach in the village. Like Lashley Beach, it is a lifeguard-protected beach, with similar facilities that include showers, restrooms, and parking, though Rogers Beach also offers a deck and a snack bar.
