The area is divided roughly into two sections by Motts Creek. Much of the section generally southeast of the creek is in the Woodmere, NY 11598 ZIP code, and the rest is either in 11557, 11516 or 11559. The northwest section, which is in the 11581 ZIP code, is known as North Woodmere.

North Woodmere Park is a large Nassau County active park located in the area. It is also home to the 9-hole North Woodmere Golf Course.

Woodmere Dock is a nearly one-acre Hempstead Town facility that offers fishing, excellent vistas of Brosewere Bay and a boat launch ramp providing non-motorized boats access to the South Shore Blueway Trail.
