Suffolk County NY Area Guides
Just beyond the borough of Queens in New York City and past Nassau County on western Long Island lies Suffolk County, the eastern counterpart that offers a more bucolic suburban feel and a wealth of fine sand beaches and gorgeous parks and preserves.
Suffolk County is composed of ten townships, including Huntington, Smithtown, Babylon, Brookhaven and Islip. It is home to Long Island’s prestigious East End, which is split by the Peconic River into the North Fork, where the Towns of Riverhead and Southold are located, and the South Fork, where the Towns of East Hampton and Southampton lie and the site of the world-renowned Hamptons. Nestled between the Forks are several islands of the Town of Shelter Island.
The areas on the East End along with many others on the North Shore and South Shore offer a lot of enjoyable waterfront recreation and glorious water views of the Long Island Sound or either of the beautiful bays, harbors, rivers and lakes located in the county.
