About The Town of Oyster Bay…
Oyster Bay is one of three townships in Nassau County on Long Island, New York. It is bordered on the west by Nassau County’s two other townships, North Hempstead and Hempstead, and on the east by Suffolk County’s townships of Huntington and Babylon. The city of Glen Cove occupies a region of the Town in the northwest.
The Town of Oyster Bay is bounded by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean to the south and the Long Island Sound to the north. Besides Brookhaven in Suffolk County, it is the only other township on Long Island that extends from the North Shore all the way to the South Shore.
Within Oyster Bay’s borders are 19 incorporated villages and 17 census-designated places (CDPs) — with one also named Oyster Bay — including a number of the affluent communities on Long Island’s “Gold Coast” North Shore. Many of these villages and hamlets have shores on the Long Island Sound inlet called Oyster Bay Harbor.
Neighborhoods like Syosset and Woodbury are known for their excellent schools and a convenient suburban lifestyle with great shopping and restaurants, historic districts and homes along tree-lined avenues that, for many, symbolize the American ideal. Bethpage, Hicksville and Farmingdale are more affordable and offer quiet neighborhoods with high quality of life and a strong sense of community.
Oyster Bay neighborhoods offer a wealth of beautiful single-family homes and multifamily dwellings. There are townhouses, co-ops and condos, including the luxury homes at The Residences at Glen Harbor in Glenwood Landing, The Hamlet Estates in Jericho and Kensington Estates in Woodbury, all of which are private gated communities.
Oyster Bay’s rich diversity of housing stock includes plenty of 4-bedroom homes or larger as well as residences with one or two bedrooms on first floor, private pools, accessory apartments or provision for one, and other features and amenities. There are also rental properties, waterfront homes with spectacular water views, new constructions, vacant lots, potential mother-daughter, horse properties and historic houses. A number of 55+ communities feature 2-bedroom condos with a basement and homes with a garage.
